We have heard several reports of centres that are using Google Chrome on mobile devices experiencing issues with some of the feature rich parts of Fastoche.  These issues appear to be limited to higher resolution devices, particularly Samsung tablets.

As part of Google’s work to optimize its Android apps on large-screen devices, Chrome is defaulting to desktop mode.  This can impact some of the click and drag features in Fastoche (status board, lesson plans, calendar, etc.).  When a device is set to mobile, the system is looking for the actions of a physical press to the screen.  When a device is in desktop mode, the system is looking for the actions of a mouse, or external device.  Having a mobile device set to desktop mode can cause drag and select inputs not to trigger.

You can easily change this setting in Google Chrome, when you are using a mobile device.

  • Open Chrome on your tablet.
  • Go to Fastoche.
  • Tap the three-dots menu (More) in the top-right corner.
  • Uncheck "Desktop site" to toggle it for that site.

If you were signed into Fastoche when you change this setting, you might need to sign out and back in to see a change.

We hope this information is helpful.  If you wish to provide feedback on this change, we encourage you to reach out to Google and/or your device manufacturer.
